Senior Manager - Transport

Job Type - Full Time

Job Overview:
Successful candidates will oversee/assume responsibility for managing the planning, operation and maintenance of 300 trucks to achieve seamless operations in the transportation department; supervise the operational aspects of a Plant’s transport Department to ensure that all activities are executed in a timely and efficient manner and that assets are effectively utilized.

Key Duties & Responsibilities
Participate in the design and articulation of the Plant’s transportation strategy, policies and procedures to ensure alignment with plant operations.
Coordinate the execution of the Plant’s transportation operational strategy/plan in line with agreed upon guidelines.
Drives the development of innovative service offerings strategies by studying and analyzing data on customers and target groups, using integrated analytical functions.
Manages / monitors efforts of all fleet managers to achieve synergies and ensure achievement of the operations targets
Preparation of daily, weekly and monthly operational reports.
Develop standard operating procedures in such key areas as business, operations, delivery management, KPI definition and evaluates performance against these standards
Implementation of process reviews to ensure effective fleet management Identifies and coordinates training needs for the Fleet Managers.
Oversee liaison with maintenance unit to ensure trucks are in good working condition at all times.
Supervise proper fleet management to improve the utilization and availability of the fleet, reduce downtime and troubleshoots deviations from routes
Ensure that fleet managers adhere to company regulations and freight transportation laws
Prepare a transport operations budget which will be incorporated into the plant transport budget if approved.
Proactively identify potential operational issues and opportunities in to the plant Transportation Department
Oversee in conjunction with the recovery units, the return to operational condition any impounded, accidental or damaged trucks in line with agreed timelines
Plan, develop and execute a vehicle replacement schedule
Keep abreast of recent developments in the logistics and transportation field.

Additional Qualifications and Experience:

Bachelor's Degree in Social Sciences /Engineering/ Business Administration is required
Post-graduate degree (MBA preferably) will be an added advantage
Minimum of 10-15years relevant work experience with at least ten (10) years in a management role overseeing large teams with clear execution responsibilities and target
In-depth understanding of transportation and supply chain management will be an advantage
Highly developed knowledge of Business Management
Working knowledge of transport HSE policies will be an advantage
Strong organization and time management skills.
Good interpersonal and communication skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
Fleet Manager:

Job Type - Full Time
Min Qualification - BA/BSc/HND
Experience - 5 years
Location - Lagos
Job Field - Administration Engineering Logistics



Job Overview;

Successful candidates will assume responsibility for the planning, scheduling, maintenance and management of 50 trucks and drivers to achieve seamless operations in the transportation department of a plant

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

Managing the operations and maintenance of the company’s fleet as assigned
Developing and implementing fleet preventive maintenance programs
Monitoring and tracking of trucks from the day of dispatch to destination of delivery and return to base
Ensuring truck drivers adhere to schedule and route destination of trucks on the highway.
Ensuring strict compliance and enforcement of existing company policies and procedures.
Planning of daily activities of transport operations and ensuring safe delivery of goods
Managing the fleet department’s budget, preparing short and long term plans for the fleet including, routing and scheduling.
Develop and analyze productivity and operational reports.
Identify and coordinate training needs for the drivers
Overseeing Company’s compliance and reporting as it relates to the fleet
Ensure that Truck drivers adhere to company regulations and freight transportation laws
Performing related duties as required
Oversee the tracking of the Plant’s fleet and generation of relevant reports as required.
Supervise fleet scheduling and planning activities to ensure timely delivery of fast consumer goods to depots/customers within Nigeria and Africa.

Additional Qualifications and Experience:

A first degree in Engineering from a recognized University or polytechnic is required
A master's degree / MBA will be an added advantage
Minimum of 7-10 year’s experience with 3 years cognate experience in this role
Project Management certification will be an added advantage
Ability to direct and evaluate drivers in the accomplishment of goals and objectives
Demonstrated ability to manage priorities and workload
Proven time management and administrative skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
Effective oral and written communication skills.
